GO IN PEACE

In the last episode of SHIFT, our official podcast, I relayed this wisdom from God about 2024:

This is the year to shift from your past.

It’s the appointed time to unhitch from who you have been and become who God created. It’s due season to stop living with regrets and enjoy life with revelation. It’s your opportunity to see that the best of your life is before you, not behind you.

2024 is your chance to replicate the pattern of a very familiar woman included in Scripture. She had quite the past. It was so morbid that she’s commonly referred to as the woman who had an issue of blood (severe bleeding).

Even in the description, however, there is an initial ray of hope. She had (past tense) an issue that caused severe bleeding. The tense of the verb suggests that at the time in which her experience was recorded, that reality no longer existed. She was free from what defined her in the past.

How did she do it? Let’s examine the Word of God and discover the pattern.

She had heard about Jesus, so she came in the crowd behind him, saying to herself, “If I just touch his clothes, I will get well.” She touched his cloak, and her bleeding stopped at once; and she had the feeling inside herself that she was healed of her trouble.

The woman realized what had happened to her, so she came trembling with fear, knelt at his feet, and told him the whole truth. Jesus said to her, “My daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your trouble” (Mark 4:27-29, 33-34, GNT).

Let’s examine the details to understand how this woman enjoyed life past her past:

  1. Revelation: A new understanding initiated her transformation. She discovered a new doctor, Lord Jesus, was nearby and could resolve her issue.
  2. Response: This woman didn’t just receive new information and sit on it. That’s like planting a seed on top of soil and expecting it to grow. Instead, she went to see and experience Him for herself.
  3. Renewal: When she experienced the power of Lord Jesus, the result was bodily transformation. She felt the healing within herself. Later, Lord Jesus told her the same words included in the title of this blog post: Go in peace. In other words, live in the newfound freedom of healing, not in the pain of your past.

Now, let’s repackage the pattern and help you shift away from your past:

  1. Revelation: What new information from the Scriptures or your personal time with God has been revealed to counter your past experiences?
  2. Response: How have you engaged the information you received? Have you internalized it (buried the seed in your spirit through meditation – see Psalm 1)? Are you operating differently because of what you received?
  3. Renewal: What does the inner healing feel like? How do you know it really happened? Are you living in the newfound freedom, or are you afraid of your past returning?

My friend, it’s your year to go in peace! Get the revelation you need to respond differently and experience renewal. Shift away from your past and go forward in peace.
