Whatever Samuel said was broadcast all through Israel (1 Samuel 4:1, MSG).
You’ve probably witnessed it before. Someone does or says something inappropriate, and it spreads like wildfire. People chime in on talk shows, news broadcasts, blog posts, and social media. Before long, the original incident has reached millions. This is what happens when something goes viral.
Although we recently introduced the term, “going viral” is not a new phenomenon. There’s evidence of it in 1 Samuel 4:1. The words Samuel spoke spread throughout his country, Israel. Essentially, the messages he received from God spread like wildfire through the Israelite community.
When I thought about the impact of the Word of God spreading rapidly through a country, I couldn’t help but get excited. Can you imagine the kind of earthly experience you would have if God’s Word went viral in your life? Here are a few benefits you would enjoy:
PEACE: When His disciples were stuck and paranoid in a ship in a storm, Jesus, the Word made flesh, said, “Peace! Be still”(see Mark 4:39). Immediately, the storm calmed down. The Word of God can calm down the chaos in your life.
POWER: “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword …” (Hebrews 4:12, KJV). His Word is so powerful that it can make something from nothing!
PROSPERITY: According to Psalm 1:3, the person who loves the Word of God will “(bear) fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do” (NLT). When your life is anchored in the Word of God, prosperity is inevitable.
I encourage you to let the Word go viral in your life. The life-changing effects of His Word will make your life incredible. Rather than let the issues of this world occupy your time and brainpower, stay focused on the Word. The Word is the only thing that will never change!
