The Miracle in the Mirror

All the important people, the government leaders and king’s counselors, gathered around to examine them and discovered that the fire hadn’t so much as touched the three men – not a hair singed, not a scorch mark on their clothes, not even the smell of fire on them! (Daniel 3:27, MSG)

People often wonder if miracles still happen.  They are often skeptical when they look at calamities, natural disasters, and other misfortunes happening around the world.  If I could talk to those same people, I’d share what I’m about to tell you.  Miracles are closer than you think.  Each time you look in the mirror, you’re beholding God’s miraculous power!

The evidence I found for such a bold statement is in Daniel 3.  Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego lived through a circumstance that should have killed them.  They were thrown in a flaming furnace that should have burned them to a crisp, yet they emerged unharmed.  Daniel 3:27 specifically says they didn’t smell like smoke, and none of their garments were burned.  They didn’t look like what they experienced!

That’s why I’m convinced that you’re a walking miracle.  The next time you look in the mirror, try to find evidence of what you’ve experienced.  If you can’t, then you’re a miracle!  Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego made it through the fire because of the divine presence (aka the fourth man in the fire).  Each time you look at yourself, and you look like yourself, God deserves your praise.  It’s His miraculous power that ensures you don’t look like what you’ve lived through.
