But Moses said to God, “I am not a great man!  How can I be the one to go to Pharaoh and lead the Israelites out of Egypt?” (Exodus 3:11, ERV)

Running from God is a topic I’m very acquainted with.  My familiarity is not rooted in my knowledge of the story of the prophet Jonah, although that’s a great example.  I know about running from God because I was good at it.  I knew I was called to preach when I was 19 years old, but I ran for 7 years before finally giving in.

At the time, I thought I was doing God a favor.  I knew myself, and I knew He could find a better person for the task.  After rereading the passage, I included with this blog post, I realized that I was far from helpful.  Instead, I was high-minded.  I acted like I knew more than God, who, by the way, is omniscient.

I’ve often viewed Moses’ response to God’s beckon as an expression of humility.  This time, however, the Holy Spirit proved otherwise.  Moses wasn’t offering a response to humans to keep them from exalting him higher than he deserved.  He was offering an alternative opinion to God.  Essentially, Moses responded like me.  He talked like he knew more than God.

The truth, Moses didn’t.  As a matter of fact, neither did I.  This leads me to the point of this blog post.  When God selects you for a task, He doesn’t need your assessment.  He’s already done that.  He only needs your agreement.  He needs you to believe that He can accomplish incredible things through you.

If you’re wrestling with God’s call on your life, think again.  Just agree.  When you agree, you’ll see that “all things are possible for the one who believes” (Mark 9:23, ERV).
