UNBELIEF RELIEF

Here is a dose of truth.  The opportunities God offers are phenomenal.  While it’s easy to see how He can uphold His end of the partnership, we may struggle to envision ourselves making consistent, valued contributions.

I spoke about this briefly in a podcast episode.  In this blog post, we’ll continue that conversation and learn how God provides relief for our unbelief.

Here is our case study:

“Many times the evil spirit has tried to kill him by throwing him in the fire and into water. Have pity on us and help us, if you possibly can!” “Yes,” said Jesus, “if you yourself can! Everything is possible for the person who has faith.” The father at once cried out, “I do have faith, but not enough. Help me have more!” Jesus noticed that the crowd was closing in on them, so he gave a command to the evil spirit. “Deaf and dumb spirit,” he said, “I order you to come out of the boy and never go into him again!” (Mark 9:22-25, GNT).

In this excerpt from Mark 9, a man has a challenge synonymous with the one we often face.  He had faith.  He believed that Lord Jesus, God in the flesh, could heal his son.  His challenge, however, was believing he could fulfill his role in the process.  He needed more faith in himself.

While responding to the man’s plea, Lord Jesus offered relief for unbelief in two ways:

  1. Revelation: While speaking to the man, He revealed the root of the problem: “if you yourself can!  Everything is possible for the person who has faith” (Mark 9:23, GNT).  Through the written and spoken Word of God, we receive truth that helps us move past our challenges.  The eloquent psalmist expressed it like this, “’The explanation of your teachings gives light and brings wisdom to the ignorant” (Psalm 119:130, GNT).
  2. Results: After revealing the truth, Lord Jesus healed the man’s son.  The results confirmed His power and certainly affirmed the man’s faith.  When God provides the specific results we desire, it boosts our faith so we can testify along with Job, “’In the past I knew only what others had told me, but now I have seen you with my own eyes” (Job 42:5, GNT).

God has relief for our unbelief.  He’ll offer revelation through His Word and results to shift us beyond our sticking points in faith.

I declare that unbelief will not hinder you from getting to your spot in 2025.  For every speed bump of doubt, God will offer His Word as “a lamp to guide (you) and a light for (your) path” (Psalm 119:105, GNT).  He will also provide the results you desire so you boldly declare, “I have the strength to face all conditions by the power that Christ gives me” (Philippians 4:13, GNT).
