KEEP THE SAME ENERGY

Hey there, friends!

I’ve recently locked into a conversation about [going all in with God.]  Per usual, this conversation also brings up an alternative: not going all in with God.  Choosing the path to take at this fork in your journey towards destiny often depends on what you’re thinking about.

On one hand, you can think about what might go wrong.  That’s usually a setup to not go all in with God.  I mean, who wants to pursue something that will inevitably fail?  Surely not me.  And probably not you.

On the other hand, you can think about all that will go right.  That’s the key to going all in with God.  Wouldn’t you like to move forward with something that can eventually be mind-blowing?  Sign me right up.  I’m sure you’d go for it as well.

Now, just think about the options I laid out and how we got there.  It was a simple shift from thinking about one thing to thinking about another.  That’s the focus of this blog post and also what these verses in the Bible cover:

Did you catch the shift?  The verses said stop the what if journey in the anxious direction and pivot to the what if journey of anticipation and affirmation.  Let’s package it a little differently so you understand the strategy:

  1. Stop thinking poorly.  That is, cease and desist the business of anxiety.  The protocol is to pray about it instead.  In other words, keep that same energy you’re using to panic but shift it into prayer to God, Who’s able to resolve whatever it is.
  2. Start thinking positively.  Praying dismantles anxiety, and positive thoughts can fuel your action in the opposite direction.  The verses express it like this: keep your mind on whatever is true, pure, right, holy, friendly, proper, etc.  That is, keep thinking about these attributes of God, Who you trusted with your anxiety, while you’re moving forward in the opposite direction.

There you have it, friends.  Instead of taking the what if journey into a pit of misery, keep the same energy and think about what if it goes well because God is on your side.  By stopping poor thinking and pivoting into positive thinking, you can experience God’s best as He works in and alongside you to accomplish amazing things.

I’m out of time for this blog post, but I’d love to hear your thoughts on ways to keep the same energy in the comments.  Let’s continue the conversation there and encourage one another to go all in with God by pivoting where we invest our energy.

I’ll be back with another post soon.  If you want to hear more about the other side of what if, go back and listen to this podcast episode we recently released: [SHIFT] Podcast (S2, E13): The Other Side of What If.

Have an incredible day!
